Catio Guy Story

Alan Breslauer, widely known as Catio Guy (@CatioGuy) across social media, founded Custom Catios in Los Angeles in 2017. What began as a passion project has evolved into Southern California’s premier cat enclosure design company, with over 500 custom installations spanning Orange County, Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Palm Springs.

A recent LA Times profile described Catio Guy as having helped turn the concept of the cat patio into “a cultural zeitgeist moment,” calling it “one of the most visible cat-focused businesses in the country, if not the world.”

Catio Guy’s work has earned acclaim from respected voices in the feline and design worlds:

  • Jackson Galaxy featured a Catio Guy build on Animal Planet’s “Cat vs. Dog,” praising: “They did a fantastic job.”
  • The Property Brothers’ Jonathan Scott, who previously declared a celebrity installation the “Best catio work [he’s] ever seen,” called Alan a genius while collaborating on an extensive catio tour.
  • Kitten Lady commissioned Catio Guy for a custom build and shared a detailed video tutorial with her followers that went viral.
  • The Dodo, one of the world’s most-followed animal media bands, produced a viral feature proclaiming “This guy makes the world’s best catios,” garnering more than 80 million combined views across platforms.

Personal Life

Alan lives in Sherman Oaks with his wife Stephanie, two dogs (Piper and Marley), and four cats (S.A.N.T.O.S. Six Toes, Herbie the Love Bug, Trey, and Ziggy).
